Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has said those in the present administration will not only go to jail, they will go to hell if their corrupt acts are exposed. Ekiti state government has announced the removal of the Vice Chancellor of Ekiti State University (EKSU), Prof. Sam Bandele, the Chief Medical Director (CMD) of Ekiti State University Teaching Hospital (EKSUTH), Dr. Kolawole Ogundipe and Provost of the College of Education, Ikere-Ekiti, Prof. Mojisola Oyarekwa. Osinbajo said that based on the persistent complaints and reports on the activities of SARS that border on allegations of human rights violations, there should be overhaul of the management and activities of SARS to ensure that any unit that would emerge from the process should be intelligence-driven.

The Presidency on Sunday, reacted to former President Olusegun Obasanjo’s latest attacks on the administration of President Muhammadu Buhari, saying that OBJ portrayed himself as a man who was sick and needed a doctor for treatment. “Our first message to the former President is that he needs a good doctor for good treatment and to say to him, ‘Get well soon’, the Presidency replied Obasanjo in a statement by Buhari’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Mr Garba Shehu, released at 10.16pm on Sunday night. It noted that Obasanjo’s allegation that Buhari had plotted with the Independent National Electoral Commission to rig the February polls existed in the former President’s imagination as there was nothing of such. According to the Presidency, the former President thought that Buhari would act in the same manner he (Obasanjo) reportedly attempted to foist a third term on Nigerians in 2007, a reason he felt INEC would rig the polls in favour of Buhari.

The Academic Staff Union of Universities and the Federal Government are to resume talks on Monday (tomorrow) on how to resolve the impasse over the two-month-old strike embarked upon by lecturers. National President of ASUU, Prof. Biodun Ogunyemi, confirmed the development in Abuja, on Friday. He, however, said the union was not optimistic about the prospects of an early resolution of the industrial dispute. In response to a question on whether there had been any fresh development with regard to the resolution of the dispute, Ogunyemi said, “I’ am afraid nothing new. I understand they will be meeting us on Monday. Let’s wait and see if they take a reasonable step; it will determine our next line of action. Until then, let’s wait and see

Melaye Gets Bail on Health Grounds 18/Jan/2019, 11:35thisdaylive.com Dino Melaye FCT High Court, Maitama, on Friday granted bail to Sen. Dino Melaye on health grounds. Melaye, representing Kogi West in the National Assembly had been in police custody since Jan. 4, but approached the court for enforcement of his fundamental human rights. Justice Yusuf Halilu, who ruled on the bail application filed by Melaye’s counsel, Chief Mike Ozekhome (SAN), said though there was no formal charge before the court, he would still grant bail on health grounds. As part of the bail conditions, Halilu ordered him to provide three sureties, two who must show evidence of landed property in Abuja. “The third, a clerk of the National Assembly, must do a letter to the court that the applicant must be produced in court when he is required.” He adjourned until Jan. 23 to rule on the substantive matter.
