Sala ‘messaged friends from plane saying he was scared’ before it vanished
- The 28-year-old and pilot of the Piper PA-46 plane are feared dead
- Sala was excited sealing a switch from Nantes to the English Premier League last Saturday
Missing player Emiliano Sala, who joined Cardiff City and disappeared onboard a UK-bound plane on Monday, January 21, reportedly sent distress messages to friends informing them of the ugly situation he was passing through.
According to UK Metro report, the 28-year-old and pilot of the Piper PA-46 plane are feared dead, moments after seeking for permission to land at Guernsey.
Sala, who was excited sealing a switch from Nantes to the English Premier League on Saturday, was on his way to resume with the Bluebirds when the unfortunate incident occurred.
Reacting on Uruguay’s Radio 1010AM, Sala’s former teammate Diego Rolan, confirmed the player reached out to some of his friends from the aircraft.
“Emiliano sent a message to some friends from the flight and said he was very scared by the plane, that if they did not find him they already knew what had happened, what he predicted was what happened.
The search for a missing aircraft that was carrying Emiliano Sala will resume at sunrise.
Although, a search operation commenced for Sala and the pilot on Monday, search leader John Fitzgerald ruled out the possibility of seeing them alive.
“Personally, and I only speak for myself, I do not think there is any chance of them being alive right now.”
Sala spent his last moments saying his goodbyes to Nantes teammates before embarking on the journey to resume at Cardiff after a club-record fee last week.
However, at 8.23 pm on Monday, Britain’s Coastguard received an alert from air traffic control in Jersey, after failing to contact with the Piper PA-46 plane with two people on board, Guernsey police revealed.
