On January 22, instant messaging app, Whatsapp reportedly crashed worldwide excluding Nigeria and the reactions on the Nigerian social media platforms have been rather witty.
Nigerians sure know how to find the joke in every situation, no matter how serious it may be. Just recently, there were several reports suggesting that popular instant messaging app, Whatsapp, crashed worldwide.

Many people reacted to the news, stating that the crash was proof that Nigeria is no longer part of the world. Others however, described Nigeria's exclusion from the crash as one of the federal government's achievements.
According to Indian news agency ANI, over 1.5 billion users on both Android and iOS, were unable to log into their accounts on Tuesday, January 22. The reason for the snag is yet to be announced by the company.
The crash comes just a few hours after the instant messaging app announced that it would be reducing the number of forwards for users worldwide. The move is aimed at limiting hoaxes and rumours that lead to violence.
The last time the shutdown happened was in November 2018.
